Job Description
We are seeking an Experienced Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This position is primarily shop-based but also requires responding to in-field breakdowns and performing roadside service as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic ability, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in both shop and field environments.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Flexible hours between 9am–11pm
- Note: This position may require responding to after-hours service calls.
Work Location
48735 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48374
- Approximately 75% of work is performed in the shop (Novi location)
- Approximately 25% of work is performed in the field, including roadside service calls and on-site equipment maintenance
Additional Position Requirements
- Employee will be assigned a company vehicle for commuting and field service use
- Vehicle will be taken home daily to allow for rapid response to emergency or after-hours service calls
- Must be willing and able to respond to in-field fleet breakdowns, including both vehicles and equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing and Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues both in-shop and in the field
- In-Field Repairs: Respond to fleet breakdowns, perform roadside diagnostics and repairs, and determine if equipment can be returned to service or requires transport
- Repairing: Perform minor and major repairs, including welding and component replacement
- Maintaining: Conduct preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
- Inspecting: Examine vehicles and equipment for defects and ensure safe operation
- Recording: Maintain accurate service records, including field service documentation
- Operating Equipment: Use hand and power tools in both shop and field environments
- Transporting: Coordinate or perform transport of disabled equipment when necessary
- Communicating: Effectively communicate status updates, repair needs, and timelines
- Working Conditions: Work in shop and outdoor environments with exposure to weather, noise, and roadside conditions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)
- 5–10 years of hands‑on mechanical experience (fleet, diesel, or equipment preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to work independently in field conditions with minimal supervision
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours service calls
- Strong communication and organizational skills
