Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC in Blytheville, AR is seeking a dedicated Slitter Operator to set up and operate slitting equipment per customer specifications and production orders. You will perform setup, inspect tooling, measure dimensions, and ensure high-quality outputs while prioritizing safety and accuracy.

The role requires precise coil handling, reconciliation of coils to production, and timely communication of any non-conformities.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform complete set-up and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements
• Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate slitting equipment according to customer specifications and work orders
• Regularly inspect equipment for safety and quality during operation
• Measure dimensions and align materials to meet production instructions
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
• Thread coil through slitter head and crop non-conforming material
• Thread mults into recoiler and maintain production standards
• Monitor gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition
• Record gauge data and ensure gauge calibration
• Communicate non-compliance to supervisor or shift lead
• Assist maintenance with troubleshooting and preventative tasks
• Keep work area clean and remove scrap and consumables

Description

As a Slitter Operator at Steel Technologies, your primary responsibility is to set up and operate slitting equipment according to customer specifications and work orders. We'll rely on you to perform regular equipment inspections, accurately measure dimensions, align materials, and produce high-quality products that meet production instructions and customer requirements. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will play a key role in ensuring efficient operations and exceptional product quality.

How you’ll contribute to our company:

• Make and inspect arbor and overarm set-ups to ensure compliance with production instructions
• Reconcile coil identity to production and load coil
• Thread coil through slitter head, cropping non-complying material
• Thread mults into recoiler
• Maintain production and quality standards by measuring and verifying before during and after processing
  • Check and record gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition
  • Set gauge monitoring system (if applicable) and ensure gauge calibration
  • Adjust machine setup to correct defects as needed throughout slitting (if applicable)
  • Communicate non-compliance production to supervisor and/or shift lead
• Band/secure and identify slit mults
• Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary
• Remove scrap from machine and empty hopper as needed
• Clean slitter and surrounding area
