Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking an Operator 2 for the Night Shift in Kansas City, MO. The role focuses on safe operation, quality production, and continuous improvement across packaging and conversion processes.

You will handle change-overs, document issues, perform basic maintenance, and support GMP adherence while coordinating with the production team to meet output goals.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to complete the conversion process and package finished product for shipping.
• Perform problem-solving and troubleshoot issues as needed.
• Load packaged material, clear jams, reset faults and conduct change-overs.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks (CILs) and maintain GMPs.
• Ensure quality and food safety procedure conformance.
• Wear PPE and report safety hazards promptly.
• Communicate information accurately using computer systems.
• Provide informal leadership to temporary associates as needed.

Mar Petcare is looking for a Operator 2 to join our exciting Nutro business at one of our manufacturing plants located in Kansas City, Mo. Operator 2 is a system expert in their assigned area and is highly functional in multiple areas. Operator 2’s must always work safely. They will ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and drive continuous improvement. Operator 2’s are responsible for the efficient production of quality products in the required quantities. They need to be familiar with the manufacturing change-over process. Operator 2’s must be flexible and have the ability to operate other equipment in the facility as needed. This job requires strong communication, Interpersonal, and team-building skills to support site objectives. Punctuality is a must.

Responsibilities

• Operating equipment to complete the conversion process and package the finished product prior to shipping to our customers.
• Conducting problem-solving and troubleshooting as necessary.
• Loading packaged material, clearing jams, resetting faults, conducting change-overs, quality checks, reporting issues, and maintaining area GMP’s.
• Completing basic preventative maintenance work as assigned (CIL’s)
• Ensuring quality & food safety procedural conformance
• Wearing required PPE and reporting any safety hazards immediately
• The ability to communicate accurate and timely information using computer technology.
• Ability to work in a self-directed manner with a positive attitude.
• Must be reliable, conscientious, punctual, and have a good work ethic.
• Conduct sanitation activities as required
• Conduct and manage inventory throughout the production process
• Provide informal leadership to temporary associates throughout the production process

Key Technical Knowledge and Functional Skills

• General safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of local, federal, and industry regulations with regards to: Food Safety (GMP, HACCP) Food Quality (Product and Process) Q&FS testing practices and procedures, and QMP polices.

Requirements and Preferred Experience

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
• Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and computer skills.
• Preferred One year pet food and/or food manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements

• Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing and sight to access all job relevant areas and perform routine activities as necessary to deliver required results.
• Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 40 lbs.) necessary.
