LeafSpring Schools in Matthews, NC is seeking a Lead Preschool Teacher to guide a classroom with hands-on learning, structured routines, and compassionate guidance. You will mentor assistant teachers and collaborate with families to support preschool readiness and social-emotional development.

The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices, circle time leadership, and partnership with families to meet licensing standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (required or in progress).
• Minimum 1–2 years of classroom experience in a licensed preschool or early childhood center.
• Proven ability to lead classroom activities and routines with confidence and consistency.
• Strong knowledge of child development, learning domains, and early intervention best practices.
• Effective communication skills with children, families, and co-workers.
• A love for young children and a commitment to their growth and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) and individualized instruction.
• Lead circle time, group activities, learning centers, and classroom transitions.
• Foster early academic skills including pre-literacy, numeracy, fine motor skills, and language development.
• Utilize observation and assessment tools to track student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Create a structured, engaging, and nurturing environment aligned with NAEYC standards.
• Supervise and guide Assistant Teachers and Aides, modeling effective teaching strategies and classroom routines.
• Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety protocols.
• Implement positive behavior guidance and social-emotional learning strategies.
• Maintain open communication with families through daily updates, progress reports, and scheduled conferences.
• Support and attend family engagement events, parent education sessions, and school celebrations.
• Collaborate with school administrators and fellow teachers to ensure alignment with school goals and state licensing standards.

Key Responsibilities
