Job summary

Wagner Equipment Co. seeks a skilled technician to service Caterpillar equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and diagnose complex engine and machine issues. You will collaborate with service writers and shop staff to coordinate repairs and parts orders.

The role requires 4+ years on CAT equipment or similar heavy equipment repair, plus 1+ year administrative experience and 3+ years customer service. A PTO-rich benefits package accompanies the position.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and preferably technical schooling in diesel or earthmoving repair.
• 4+ years on Caterpillar equipment OR 4-5 years in heavy equipment/engine repair (Caterpillar/John Deere/Komatsu).
• 1+ year administrative/clerical experience and 3+ years customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on new and rebuilt equipment.
• Service and maintain equipment sold or owned by the company.
• Disassemble/assemble/install components; test and adjust engine systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions and advise on repairs.
• Prepare inspection, appraisal and service reports; ensure timely submission.
• Communicate with service writers and shop staff to track repairs.

Pay

$30.50-$50.60 per hour + shift differential

Pay rate is dependent on education and experience

Essential Functions

• Performs maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment
• Services and maintains equipment sold and/or owned by the company
  • Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts
  • Tests measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures
• Makes recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria
• Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts orders are correct and complete at the time of order
• Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and component
• Prepares accurate and complete inspection, appraisal and service reports, and turns them in on time
• Communicates effectively with Service Writer, Shop Coordinators and Shop Managers to ensure problems, nature of repair, and status of repairs are understood and followed up on
• Provides direction, training, mentoring and guidance to assigned service technicians
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred
• 4+ years experience working on Caterpillar Equipment OR 4-5 years in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system repair (EX: Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Etc.)
• 1+ years administrative/clerical experience
• 3+ years customer service experience
