Job description

Dixie Construction, LLC
Experienced Finish Carpenter

Location: Greater New Orleans, LA -- Full-time, field-based position at project sites throughout the area.

Craftsmanship Worth Preserving

Dixie Construction, LLC restores, renovates, remodels, and custom-builds fine homes throughout Greater New Orleans. Much of our work involves older and historic properties that require patience, precision, and a deep understanding of traditional craftsmanship. We are looking for a highly skilled carpenter who takes pride in producing work that is not simply acceptable, but exceptional.

We are seeking an experienced Finish Carpenter capable of completing detailed, custom carpentry with limited supervision. This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with high-end residential projects, custom moldings, stairs, doors, arches, and historic homes. You should be comfortable solving unique field conditions and committed to reworking a detail when it does not meet the required standard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality finish and trim carpentry on residential construction and renovation projects.
  • Install and fabricate custom moldings, crown molding, baseboards, trim, and architectural details.
  • Build, install, repair, and finish stairs, arches, doors, frames, and related components.
  • Complete alterations and repairs in historic and custom homes.
  • Read and work from drawings, plans, sketches, and specifications.
  • Inspect existing conditions and determine appropriate repair or installation methods.
  • Estimate the time, materials, and tools needed to complete assigned work.
  • Maintain accurate information regarding labor, materials, and completed work.
  • Use tools, materials, and equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Coordinate effectively with project managers, other carpenters, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before considering the assignment finished.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of professional carpentry experience preferred, with advanced finish and trim carpentry skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete custom moldings, stairs, crown molding, arches, and door installations.
  • Experience with historic homes, restorations, or high-end residential renovations is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read plans, drawings, sketches, and measurements accurately.
  • Thorough knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, tools, and job-site safety.
  • Must provide standard personal hand and carpentry tools required for the trade. Specialized equipment is provided as applicable.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater New Orleans area are required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with a field team.
  • Positive, dependable, and level-headed approach to the work.
  • English proficiency is not required. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with their assigned team regarding work instructions and job-site safety.
Pay and Benefits
  • Independent contractor (1099); ongoing project-based work, with workload varying by project needs.
  • Pay: $22.50 - $35.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Consistent project opportunities with a growing construction company.
  • No traditional employee benefits are currently offered for this position.
