Job summary

Lehigh Valley Division, a division of H&K Group, Inc., seeks an experienced Excavator Operator to operate excavator equipment and assist paving activities on road construction projects in the Easton, PA area. The role requires moving between tasks as needed, maintaining safety per OSHA, and performing loader tasks.

Candidates should have 1-year certificate or 6 months experience, pass a skills test, and demonstrate strong communication.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience.
• Able to pass practical skills test for excavators and loaders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions
• Problem solving and PPE use
• Ability to meet physical requirements

Responsibilities

• Performs work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment daily.
• Operates loader: starts engine, shifts gears, and maneuvers to load and move material.
• Moves material and operates bucket, delivering to trucks or stockpiles.
• Maintains on-site stockpiles and ensures product is blended correctly.
• Provides excellent customer service on site and follows company procedures.
• Performs routine maintenance on loader and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Lehigh Valley Division, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is currently seeking an experienced and motivatedExcavator Operator to become a part of our team. This position entails the operation of excavator equipment and other paving activities to achieve daily production goals on road construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Perform pre and post trip of equipment every day and fill out daily inspection sheets.
• Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel/moves joysticks to operate loader.
• Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into finished product.
• Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled and dumps material into truck or rail.
• Provide excellent customer service to all customers on site.
• Maintains haul roads that are smooth and safe.
• Keep stockpiles properly bermed and maintained.
• Ensure product is blended correctly.
• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating and cleaning.
• Perform all work following company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school OR six months of related experience and/or training
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Able to pass practical skills test for excavators and loaders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Problem solving
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Two years of related experience and/or training
• Experience and practical skills for other heavy equipment
• Strong preference for experience and practical skills with a 330 excavator with hammer and loader
• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
