Job summary

Maguire is seeking a Shop Welder in Sioux Falls to weld, cut, and braze metal parts for the tank division. The role requires 3+ years of dual-shield MIG welding experience and the ability to pass a weld test. You will perform various welding tasks and ensure quality while following safety procedures.

Shifts run Friday through Sunday, 12-hour days (6:00am-6:30pm). You will work 36 hours and be paid for 40 hours if conditions are met, with duties including equipment maintenance and strict

Responsibilities

• Plans work order procedures and gathers tools/materials per job instructions.
• Repairs and fabricates items using cutting, burning, and welding techniques.
• Monitors welding/burning/fitting to prevent warping or damage.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work area.
• Notifies supervisor of faulty equipment or materials.

Job description

For over 100 years, Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment for the new tank division. The position will require good knowledge of welding techniques and have the ability to produce quality work.

This shift operatesFriday, Saturday, and Sunday; 12-hour days (6:00am-6:30pm). Work 36 hours and get paid for 40 as long as specific conditions are met!

Essential Functions:

• Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
