Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Data Scientist to join the Digital Strategic Development team. You will lead AI/ML initiatives to accelerate the development of I&C systems for US Navy carriers and submarines, integrating AI tools into software and processes.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to implement high-impact use cases, define safe LLM operating practices, and provide technical leadership across programs while advancing CI/CD, DevSecOps, and cybersecurity best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or science field.
• Masters degree in a related field preferred; Doctorate highly regarded.
• At least 2–4 years of relevant experience depending on degree level.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify, scope, prioritize, and implement high-impact AI/ML use cases for I&C systems.
• Collaborate on processes, guidelines, and policies for safe use of LLMs in safety-critical hardware/software.
• Analyze data sets to generate actionable insights for tools and processes.
• Integrate AI/ML models into software applications and workflows.
• Provide technical leadership on assigned projects and programs.
