Job summary

MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks an Experienced Clinical Nurse for the G22 IMU unit. Responsibilities include coordinating direct patient care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and supporting care across the continuum. Job description

The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting. The candidate must be available to work the Day/Evening shift (7am - 7pm), with rotating weekends and holidays required.

G22 IMU is a specialized intermediate care unit providing advanced monitoring and treatment for oncology patients who require a higher level of care than a general medical unit but do not need intensive care. Nurses on this unit manage complex therapies, monitor for complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $32.70 - Midpoint $50.00 - Maximum $67.30

PLUS - nurses will earn up to $8,320 in annual department-based differentials for all inpatient units. Clinical Nurses relocating from 100+ miles from MD Anderson will also qualify for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance!

  • Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting the clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.

  • Improves practice by integrating findings and theories from research studies into clinical care.
  • Participates in data collection for current research studies.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in patient care through the use of technology, medication administration, procedural interventions, and emergency management.
  • Accesses, enters, and retrieves information from computer systems. Ensures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.
  • Serves as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights and promote quality care.
  • Trains, coaches, and supports team members to ensure optimal patient care and the efficient use of resources.
EDUCATION
  • Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire and

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
