Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Irving, TX is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of roadway design experience to join our Roadway team. This on-site role offers mentorship and exposure to plan production, client interactions, and project financials.

Qualified candidates hold an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree and an Engineer-In-Training or equivalent certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months), with proficiency in MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with a civil engineering design firm.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Working knowledge of MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers with a variety of civil engineering tasks.
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments and perform grading and drainage design.
• Contribute to streetscape and roadway improvements and multimodal design.
• Prepare signage, striping and signalization plans and assist with plan production.
• Engage in client interactions and project financials under mentorship.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Irving, Texas (TX) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Roadway team. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of civil engineering tasks supporting various project managers as required. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Horizontal and vertical alignments
  • Grading and Drainage design
  • Streetscape and roadway improvements
  • Multimodal design, including multi-use trails and complete streets
  • Signage, striping and signalization plans
• As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience with a civil engineering design firm
• Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering
• "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
