Job summary

Blue Mule Garage in Bastrop, TX is seeking an experienced auto tech to join our busy, five-bay shop. The role emphasizes diagnosing and repairing automotive systems, engine and transmission work, and upholding safety standards.

Applicants should have strong problem-solving skills, ability to work with a Service Advisor, and willingness to help teammates. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus; welding and diesel experience are helpful.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of automotive repair and diagnosis experience.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
• Welding experience, diesel experience, small engine repair, and Spanish speaking are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, and A/C.
• Test-drive vehicles and perform pre-purchase inspections.
• Communicate with the Service Advisor to inform customers of needed services.
• Remove engines and transmissions as needed.
• Maintain tools and a neat, orderly workspace.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE as required.

Blue Mule Garage a very busy, successful Mechanic repair shop located in Bastrop, Tx. We just expanded into a 5 bay shop from two, added a separate office and waiting room for our customers and we are looking for hard working, experienced mechanic/Auto Tech to add to our family of Mechanical owned and operated shop with 5 star google reviews! Experienced Auto Repair Technician

· Minimum 10 years of Automotive Mechanical Repair and Diagnosis of vehicles, problem-solving and repair experience to succeed in this position.

Maintains tools and work places so that conditions are neat and orderly.

$32.50 + an hour FLAG PAY (Self employed status) 1099 employee- increased based on performance at 30 days of employment

JOB DUTIES INCLUDING NOT LIMITED TO:

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including:
• Engine
• Transmission
• Manual/Electrical Steering
• Suspension
• Brakes
• Air Conditioning, etc.
• Perform Pre-Purchase vehicle inspections
• Test-drive vehicles
• Test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor to ensure customers are well-informed of any additional services needed.
• Knowledge and ability to remove engines and transmissions

JOB REQUIRED SKILLS & CRITERIA:

• Standing/Sitting/Squatting/Kneeling/Bending for long periods of time.
• Lifting/Loading/Unloading/Carrying (Up to 50 lbs)
• Practice safe use of machines, equipment, hand tools, power tools, jacks and lifts.
• Ability to communicate in English and or Spanish if applicable with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
• Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including safety glasses, and as needed, respirator, steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required.
