Job summary

McCombs Ford West is seeking an Experienced Detailer to join the Make Ready Team. Responsibilities include detailing client vehicles, preparing vehicles for the lot, and detailing sold vehicles for delivery, with strict adherence to dealership policies.

Applicants should have related experience or training, and be prepared to train others as needed. This role is part of our Make Ready operations and requires attention to quality control and collaboration with sales and service teams.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 21 years of age and 6 months or more of related experience or training.

• Coordinate with sales and service to ensure on-time deliveries
• Attend department meetings

Education and/or Experience

Insurance requires that applicants for this position be at least 21 years of age 6 months or more of related experience, and/or training

• Paint Correction & Polishing: The ability to identify paint types (factory vs. respray), measure clear coat thickness, and perform multi-stage defect removal (swirl marks, scratches) using dual-action and rotary polishers.
• Surface Chemistry: Understanding which chemicals safely clean, restore, or protect delicate materials like leather, alcantara, vinyl, plastics, and sensitive modern touchscreens.
• Advanced Protection Application: Expert-level installation of modern surface protections, including ceramic coatings, paint protection film (PPF), and hydrophobic glass treatments.
• Interior Reconditioning: Deep stain extraction, odor neutralization (using ozone or chemical treatments), and steam cleaning safely without soaking electronics.
• Surface Preparation: Using clay bars and specialized prep agents to remove bonded contaminants before polishing or waxing.
