Job description

Job Level:Entry Level

Home District/Group:DHO Kiewit Supply Network

Department:Supply Chain Management

Employment Type:Full Time

Position Overview

Build a career helping Kiewit project teams get the equipment, materials, and supplier information they need to keep construction moving. As an Entry Level Expeditor, you will support assigned supplier packages from contract award through delivery and closeout. With coaching from experienced expeditors, you will learn how engineering documents, manufacturing progress, inspections, and shipping activities affect delivery dates. Your work will give the team reliable information, timely follow-up, and early visibility of potential delays.

A supplier package is equipment or material covered by a contract or a group of related contracts. You will own assigned follow-up and records within an established plan, with guidance from an experienced expeditor or designated lead. Complexity and independence will increase as you demonstrate proficiency.

District Overview

Kiewit Supply Network specializes in providing comprehensive procurement services to clients across the construction and engineering industries in multiple markets, including transportation; water/wastewater; power; oil, gas and chemical; building; and mining. Our key objectives are to offer clients a world-class service focused on ensuring equipment, materials and services are consistently estimated and procured at the right price. We strive to offer high quality and ensure materials and services are delivered on schedule and in compliance with the client’s specifications and expectations.

Location

This position will be based out of our Houston, Texas office.

Responsibilities
  • Review assigned contracts and delivery requirements with guidance. Identify key contacts, required supplier documents, milestone dates, and the project's material need dates.
  • Contact suppliers for scheduled updates, document submissions, contract acknowledgments, and supporting progress information. Prepare for supplier calls and record commitments, action owners, and due dates.
  • Maintain accurate dates, quantities, status comments, and supporting records in the designated expediting system. Keep supplier forecasts separate from verified actual dates and flag inconsistent or missing information.
  • Track assigned items in the Supplier Deliverables Schedule and supplier Master Document List. Follow up on late submissions, internal review returns, and resubmittals with the responsible team members.
  • Compare reported progress with agreed milestones. Promptly raise missed dates, unanswered requests, missing material, or other concerns that could affect fabrication, testing, shipment, or site arrival.
  • Support manufacturing and shipment-readiness checks by collecting material status, progress evidence, inspection dates, packing lists, and shipping documents. Participate in supplier-shop visits as assigned.
  • Follow up with Logistics and Site Material Control on delivery status, receiving reports, and overages, shortages, or damage. Track assigned exceptions to closure or an agreed handoff.
  • Keep action lists and expediting files current. Collect milestone, receiving, and final-document evidence for Contract Management's payment review and contract closeout. Apply feedback to improve your work.
Qualifications
  • No prior expediting experience is required. Demonstrated follow-through, organization, and accuracy through education, training, employment, or other practical experience.
  • Ability to compare dates and quantities, recognize discrepancies, maintain organized records, and ask clear questions when information is incomplete.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and email, for maintaining data and preparing clear updates. Ability to use AI assistants and large language models (LLMs) to streamline daily tasks, support routine automation, and check outputs for accuracy.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and the confidence to follow up respectfully with suppliers and coworkers.
  • Ability to manage several assigned deadlines, work collaboratively, accept coaching, and raise concerns promptly.
  • Interest in learning contracts, engineering documents, manufacturing sequences, project schedules, and Kiewit's systems and processes.
Preferred qualifications
  • Coursework, a certificate, or an associate or bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience is valued; a degree is not required.
  • Internship or work experience in procurement, manufacturing, logistics, construction, materials coordination, document control, or a related military specialty.
  • Exposure to material management systems and the ability to learn unfamiliar platforms.

Other Requirements:

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
