Job summary

Dental Studio West, part of the Heartland Dental network, is seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our team in Ohio. This part-time role (2–3 days/week) supports clinical treatment, patient comfort, and education while managing supplies and assisting the dentist under OSHA guidelines.

Qualified candidates will hold EFDA certification in Ohio, have 2+ years EFDA experience, and demonstrate strong communication and manual dexterity.

Qualifications

• EFDA certification required in Ohio.
• 2+ years of EFDA work experience.
• Good working knowledge of general, surgical, oral, and orthodontic procedures and terminology.
• Strong listening and direction-following abilities in a clinical setting.
• Ability to build rapport with patients.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain lab equipment.
• Take and develop X-rays.
• Provide comprehensive post-operative dental procedures to patients.
• Taking and recording medical and dental histories and patient vital signs.
• Assisting the dentist in managing dental emergencies.

Dental Studio West is looking for an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our team.

Schedule

Work schedule: 2–3 days per week. Schedule to be determined; candidates’ preferred days will be considered.

Requirements

Job Requirements – EFDA – Dental Assistant Certification:

• EFDA certification required in Ohio
• 2+ years of EFDA work experience
• Good working knowledge of general, surgical, oral, and orthodontic procedures and terminology
• Strong listening and direction-following abilities in a clinical setting
• Ability to build rapport with patients
• Good manual dexterity
• Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software
• Willingness to travel at least once every other month for training (occasional overnight)
• Dental assisting school expanded functions certification is required
