Sebastian Animal & Bird Hospital is seeking a compassionate Veterinarian to join our team. We welcome both full- and part-time applicants who share dedication to high-quality medicine and surgery for a range of species, including birds, exotics, dogs and cats.

Salary is based on experience and abilities, with mentoring on site and a strong emphasis on work-life balance and client communication. Flexible scheduling may be available.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
• Previous work experience as a veterinarian preferred but we are willing to train.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary practice preferred; mentoring on site available.
• Knowledge of medical equipment and anesthesia procedures.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts in simple terms.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Patience and a love for animals (all species).
• Self-motivated and able to work independently without direct supervision.
• Commitment to lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine examinations on dogs, cats and ideally non-traditional exotic mammals (ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, chinchillas, rats etc), birds and reptiles.
• Diagnose problems and recommend appropriate treatment.
• Perform soft tissue surgery and dentistry.
• Administer vaccinations (species appropriate).
• Advise pet owners on preventative healthcare, nutrition, and overall pet well-being.
• Interpret radiographs.
• Ideally have an interest in and potentially perform FAST scans +/- abdominal ultrasound.
• Update client records using a EMR (Avimark).
