• Prepare patients for diagnostic stress tests, including interviews, consent, skin prep, resting EKG and blood pressure.
• Interpret resting, stress, and recovery EKGs.
• Determine diagnostic endpoints and discuss results with physicians.
• Complete stress test documentation and update EMR promptly.
• Perform basic interrogation and programming of pacemakers/ICDs.
• Access and interpret pacemaker/ICD home monitoring reports.
• Identify areas for continuing education.
• Perform other duties as required.

Seeking an Exercise Specialist for our practice that will be under the direction of a physician and/or manager, the Exercise Specialist prepares patients for and assists with scheduled testing and treatment.

What you will do in this role

• Prepare patients for diagnostic stress tests, including interviewing, obtaining informed consent, skin preparation for electrode placement, obtaining resting EKG and blood pressure.

• Interpretation of resting, stress, and recovery EKGs.

• Determination of appropriate diagnostic endpoint and instant discussion of test results with physician or midlevel, if necessary.

• Immediate completion of necessary stress test documentation, including placement of patient stress tests in electronic medical record and communicating results to referral and providing physicians, as well as patients within a timely manner.

• Basic understanding of internal pacemakers and internal cardiac defibrillators, with the ability to perform basic interrogation and programming.

• Access and interpret pacemaker and ICD home monitoring reports.

• Identifies areas for continuing education.

• Perform other duties as required.

Role Preferences and Additional Information:

• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as transfer, ambulation and daily living activates

• Body compilation analysis -and depending on results creates an individualized exercise program to improve the patient's strength and endurance, and over all physical conditioning. This program is designed to optimize the patient's readiness for bariatric surgery and support a successful recovery and long-term outcomes both before and after surgery

• Compiles and evaluates data on patients progress and reports in Electronic Medical Record

• Patient education on DVT preventio n

What Qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Nursing, or equivalent.

• Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience interpreting 12 lead EKGs required

• Experience with treadmill stress test using Bruce protocol required

• Experience with pacemaker and internal cardiac defibrillators also preferred
