Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field from a CAHEEP accredited program. Master’s degree preferred.
• ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience in fitness, medical and/or physical rehabilitation environments with assessment, exercise prescription, programming, physiology, anatomy, and monitoring of programs.
• Two+ years of clinical experience prescribing exercise for chronic diseases or neurological disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Practice in a clinical rehabilitation setting with supervised exercise prescription and programming.
• Assist clients transitioning from physical therapy while developing exercise programs to improve health and wellness.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists to coordinate treatment in the rehabilitation center.
• Evaluate clients and develop individual programs following established guidelines.
• Lead group and individual exercise sessions (land and aquatics where applicable).
• Support manager in customer service, facility operations, and program development.

Exercise Physiologist

We are currently seeking a full‑time Exercise Physiologist to join our team. This position will provide coverage at our Hanover location.

Compensation

• Pay Range - $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
• This range reflects our commitment to pay equity and market‑competitive compensation.
• Final compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

• Practice in a clinical rehabilitation setting addressing chronic medical conditions through supervised and guided exercise prescription and programming.
• Provide support for clients transitioning from physical therapy while developing exercise programs to improve overall health and wellness.
• Work closely with many health care professionals (physicians, nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists) to coordinate treatment in the rehabilitation center.
• Conduct proper evaluation, protocol implementation, individual program development, and adaptive exercise training services with clients.
• Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of pool and fitness members, record progression through program stages, and recommend or implement protocol or program changes as indicated under established guidelines.
• Lead and instruct large and small group exercise classes (land and aquatics).
• Assist manager and/or coordinator in all areas including customer service, facility operations, communication/promotion, program development, and member/user orientation.
• Monitor exercise areas (inclusive of pool where available) to ensure a safe and quality environment for all members and users.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Successful Candidates Will Possess

• College degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field from a CAAHEP accredited program required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Current ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Demonstrated work experience in a fitness, medical and/or physical rehabilitative environment, including assessment, risk stratification, medical terminology, exercise prescription, programming, physiology, anatomy, and monitoring of individual exercise programs.
• Two or more years of experience in a clinical setting prescribing exercise for individuals living with chronic diseases and/or neurological disabilities preferred.
• Group exercise certification and/or experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to function as a member of a team.
• Ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of customers in the age groups served.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to demonstrate all exercise components, protocols, and equipment usage.
• Ability to travel to Sheltering Arms outpatient clinics as required.
