Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field with a cardiopulmonary focus.
• Master's degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred.
• ACSM certification as exercise physiologist required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients' medical history and conducts fitness evaluations to identify needs and risks.
• Develops customized exercise programs including cardiopulmonary training, strength, and rehabilitation.
• Monitors vital signs during sessions and adjusts plans as needed for safety.
• Educates patients on healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise techniques.
• Documents all clinical information in the patient record and coordinates with care team.
• Schedules diagnostic and respiratory care appointments and ensures infection control.

Job description

The Exercise Physiologist analyzes a patient's medical history, conducts fitness and stress tests, measures vital signs, and developsindividualized exercise prescriptions to improve the patient's overall health and aid in the recovery from variousmedical conditions according to the physicians' individualized prescription and Plan of Care.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conducts fitness evaluations and functional assessments to identify individual needs, limitations, and anypotential risks exercise may pose
• Assists in the orientation and intake of all new patients
• Develops customized exercise programs based on prescribed goals, including cardiopulmonary training, strengthtraining, flexibility exercises, and rehabilitation protocols
• Administers breathing exercises, dyspnea management, therapeutic exercises, psychosocial
  assessment/management, work simplification strategies, and assistive technologies
• Monitors progress through regular assessments, monitors heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, andoxygen saturation during exercise sessions
• Identifies potential risks associated with exercise based on medical history and adjusts exercise plans accordingly
• Provides patients with education on healthy lifestyle habits, nutrition, and exercise techniques to optimizetherapy results
• Performs cardiopulmonary exercise tests to evaluate cardiopulmonary functions and the presence of anylimitations
• Communicates assessments and updates on the patient's Plan of Care with members of the healthcare team andreferring physicians
• Documents accurate and complete clinical information in the patient's medical record
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with all applicable rules, regulations, and procedures forsafety management and infection control
• Schedules patient's appointments for diagnostic and respiratory care services

Qualifications.

Education

• Bachelor'sDegreein Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field with
  a concentration in cardiopulmonary healthRequired
• Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field with
  a concentration in cardiopulmonary healthPreferred

Work Experience

• Minimum of 1-3 years of applicable experience Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• work productively with patients,families, physicians, and healthcare team

Licenses and Certifications

• American College of Sports Medicine("ACSM") certification as exercisephysiologistRequired
• Current certification in basic life supportwith advanced life support certification
