Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a dedicated Exercise Physiologist to lead patients in Cardio-Pulmonary Rehabilitation, developing and adjusting exercise prescriptions based on medical history and patient needs.

The role focuses on delivering evidence-based rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary team, with a 7:00am–5:00pm schedule, full-time status, and an emphasis on cardiac and respiratory care for adults across all phases of rehab.

Qualifications

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. BS in Exercise Physiology or related field.
• Experience: Rehabilitation experience as an Exercise Physiologist, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Progressing toward a ACSM exercise related certification within 1 yr (Certification Agreement signed upon hire), required.

Formulates and modifies exercise prescriptions for new Cardio‑Pulmonary Rehabilitation participants based on medical history and special needs.

Additional Skills (preferred)

• Practical and theoretical knowledge of all phases of routine and critical cardiac and respiratory care, with an emphasis on adult, chronic disease management.
• Abilities to perform decisively in critical situations and to incorporate many types of data.
• Has the knowledge, skills and ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
• Has the ability to supervise exercise, monitor patients during exercise, and modify exercise prescriptions for cardio‑pulmonary patients, in conjunction with registered nurses and/or physician as needed.
• Has effective communication and interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, nurses, physicians and other department and hospital staff.
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing.
