We're seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Sous Chef to support the day-to-day culinary operations at Wingate University. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to oversee food preparation, staff supervision, menu development, and execution of catering events. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, innovative culinary leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the Executive Chef on menu planning, food costing, and inventory control
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation
Assist in ordering, receiving, and managing inventory
Lead the execution of catered functions and special events
Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and regulatory guidelines
Support the implementation of new culinary programs and company initiatives
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience required
3+ years of progressive kitchen leadership experience; high-volume or institutional experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and kitchen best practices
Proven ability to manage food cost and minimize waste
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and kitchen management software
ServSafe Certification preferred
Excellent communication, organization, and team leadership skills
