Job summary

Cape Air seeks an executive leader to provide strategic oversight of safety strategy, safety programs, and the Safety Management System (SMS). You will set the strategic direction for safety initiatives, support development of new safety programs, and ensure the Safety Department has the leadership and resources needed to continuously improve safety performance.

Qualifications

• FAA Commercial/ATC/Dispatcher certificates or equivalent is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in aviation or related field is preferred.
• 7+ years in safety-related roles with 4+ years in management is preferred.
• Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 91 and Part 135 operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for Cape Air’s safety programs and SMS.
• Advise executive leadership on strategic safety risks and regulatory exposure.
• Oversee safety investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Partner with senior leaders to address material safety risks and governance.
• Represent Cape Air with FAA and other regulatory agencies as needed.
