Job summary

The City of DeFuniak Springs seeks an executive-level finance director to lead all financial operations, planning and reporting for the City. The role directs fund accounting, budgeting, utility billing, payroll and treasury management while advising on fiscal policy to maintain the City’s financial health.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and at least five years in government finance with two years in supervision. Florida-specific knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, public finance, business administration or a closely related field from a four-year college or university.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible government finance accounting experience with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of local governmental utility services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and manage the financial operations of the City, directing budgeting, accounting and reporting.
• Oversee fund accounting, utility billing, payroll, customer service, investing, debt management and treasury functions.
• Advise the City on fiscal policy matters and ensure bondability and financial health.
