Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee project start-up, including detailed estimate review and procurement.
• Direct project team, site superintendent, and staff to ensure on-time, within-budget construction.
• Develop and enforce project objectives, procedures, and performance standards.
• Manage profitability for assigned projects and client relationships.
• Coordinate safety programs and job site safety reviews.
• Build and track CPM schedules and manage closeout, QA/QC, and commissioning.

Job description

Primary Purpose

The Executive Project Manager is a vital part of the U.S. Engineering team and is responsible for overseeing the profitability and success of assigned projects. Additionally, the Executive PM holds broader leadership responsibility for the overall success of the company and, as such, is engaged in strategic planning, development of Operational policy and procedure, people development, etc.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities

• Responsible for project start-up, including detailed estimate review, and facilitation of purchasing, procurement, subcontracts and submittals, and project schedules.
• Monitor control and construction of project through administrative direction of other Project Managers, on-site Superintendent and other field and office personnel associated with the project, to ensure quality project is built on schedule within budget.
• Establish project objectives, procedures and performance standards within scope of company policies and standard operating procedures. Will also participate in the development of such company operating policies and procedures.
• Responsible for-profit management of assigned projects.
• Fosters effective relationships with project team, as well as clients, vendors, subcontractors, etc.
• Oversees the review and processing of submittals.
• Manages subcontractor proposal requests, scope reviews and the issuing of subcontracts.
• Responsible for establishing and monitoring schedule of field and subcontractor progress.
• Issues large purchase orders.
• Reviews, edits, and approves owner and general contractor contracts.
• Assists in the coordination, and perhaps the development, of safety programs, and oversees job site safety reviews.
• Coordinates and authorizes all job correspondence.
• Identifies opportunities for future projects and networks internally and externally to pursue such opportunities.
• WBS and work pack management (Facilitate VC/MX)
• Build, maintain and track project Schedule (CPM Schedules)
• Host weekly internal coordination meetings.
• Responsible for creating and tracking closeout process including all equipment startups QA/QC, Commissioning, and warranty.
• Responsible for nurturing the professional development and mentoring of the project team and others within the division, and assists in the performance assessment process for the team – may include providing job performance feedback or conducting performance assessments, etc.
• Gathers, organizes, and documents project historical data and “lessons learned” to aid in the company’s productivity and project quality monitoring.
• Responsible for reinforcing the company’s core values in how the project work is performed, and in a broader context.
• Focus on building and maintaining long term relationships and overall business development.

Job Scope

• The Executive Project Manager should possess the ability to manage at least $25 million revenue of work annually.
• The Executive Project Manager should possess the ability to effectively manage multiple project teams simultaneously.
• The Executive Project manager should be capable of overseeing projects in remote locations – from project procurement through closeout; to include the establishment and oversight of project teams.

Management Responsibility

• Supervisor – responsible for hiring, performance management and pay administration for subordinates. List supervised positions: Project Engineer, Project Manager, Project Controls Coordinator
• Acts as a project manager – management of a project team, on which the individuals comprising the team may vary by project.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science Management, Architectural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Equivalent combination of field and leadership experience will be considered.
• Extensive experience in mechanical construction industry – minimum of 15 years.
• Prior experience as top level manager overseeing projects, schedules, budgets, and teams
• Must have diverse project management experience in types of mechanical construction projects – e.g. commercial, industrial, institutional.
• Experience as a member of a senior leadership and/or strategic planning team.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Extensive knowledge of mechanical construction industry practices, processes, and standards.
• Ability to maximize performance of project team through innovative and effective management techniques.

• Superior communication and interpersonal skills, such as diplomacy, persuasion, etc. are essential to develop and foster effective professional relationships.
• Strategic thinking and effective problem-solving skills. Keeps “One Company” focus.
• Can be counted on to assemble and manage a project team in a remote location – able to work autonomously but within parameters of corporate policy and standards.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• At least an intermediate level of financial acumen necessary to manage project budget / performance.
• Knowledge of the following computer programs: MS Word, Excel. Experience with accounting systems and/or project management software preferred.
• Strong negotiation and conflict-management skills.
• Ability to successfully drive multiple projects through completion.
• Adapt effectively to changing priorities.
• Ability to think strategically.

Physical and/or travel demands

• Routine driving to project sites required.
• Travel to or temporary assignment/relocation to remote project sites may be required, based on project locations and operation’s needs.
• Physical demands include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting. Position includes sitting and standing, use of telephone, keyboard, and computer monitor.

Benefits and Compensation

• The range for this position has been established hourly rate at $34.45- $48.65and is U.S. Engineering’s good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
• Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, and retirement.
