Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Chief Advanced Practice Provider to lead the APP staff in the Emergency Medicine department. The role oversees APP practice, directs Lead APPs, and partners with nursing leadership to advance quality, safety, and operational excellence.

The candidate will bring a master’s degree, 5+ years in emergency care, and strong leadership capabilities to drive education, staffing, scheduling, and performance reviews in a complex hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited APP program with a master’s degree.
• Five or more years of clinical experience in an emergency department.
• Preferably at least two years of progressive administrative experience and a proven leadership record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as clinical resource, providing consultation, education, and mentorship to staff.
• Plan and supervise educational activities for APP staff.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and ensure staff meet mandatory training and licensing requirements.
• Conduct annual performance reviews in collaboration with physician and department leadership.
• Address behavioral issues and resolve interpersonal conflicts among APP staff.
• Oversee scheduling, PTO tracking, and HR coordination.
• Coordinate department clinic schedules to maintain coverage.
• Lead initiatives to improve workflow and patient care.
