Job summary

The National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) in Golden, CO invites applications for Center Director of the MCCS Computational Science Center. This senior leader will guide six groups, shape HPC and AI strategy, manage budgets, and foster partnerships to advance energy research capabilities.

The role requires exceptional leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong commitment to safety and security. On-site work at the South Table Mountain Campus with partial hybrid options, and U.S.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Science, Computer Science, or related technical discipline with 7 years of related experience, or a master’s with 9 years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance.
• Demonstrated breadth of knowledge across computational science and advanced computing with leadership in R&D.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for CSC aligned with DOE and CMEI.
• Integrate the Center’s six groups through shared priorities and cross-group collaboration.
• Lead staffing, finances, performance reviews, and administrative functions.
• Ensure reliable operation of production computing and visualization capabilities.
• Develop strategic technical capabilities and partnerships for NLR’s computing efforts.
• Represent NLR’s computational science efforts nationally and internationally.
• Ensure safety, security, and compliance with DOE and NLR requirements.
