Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital seeks a Chief of Staff for the Burns department to lead clinical, operational, and educational initiatives. The role ensures alignment with institutional goals, drives quality improvement, and sustains multidisciplinary teamwork across surgeons, nurses, therapists, and staff.

You will oversee research activities, resident and fellow education, and regulatory compliance while fostering a patient-centered culture and strategic growth within pediatric burn care.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • ACGME-accredited residency in General or Plastic Surgery.
  • Fellowship training in burn surgery and/or pediatric surgery.
  • 8–10 years of clinical experience in burn surgery with pediatric focus.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership in clinical operations, physician management, or academics.
  • Board certification in general, plastic, or pediatric surgery.
  • Eligibility for active and unrestricted medical licensure in the state of practice.
  • DEA eligibility and BLS for HCP and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary administrative liaison between the Burns department and hospital executive leadership.
  • Ensure Medical Staff representation in Board meetings and committees; develop bylaws and policy changes.
  • Oversee department budget, contracts, and resource allocation; manage scheduling and operations.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives, patient safety, and regulatory compliance across the department.
  • Promote clinical research and educational programs; supervise CME and trainee education.
