Job summary

City of Marietta seeks an experienced Fire Chief to lead the Fire Department, directing suppression, rescue, prevention, and training programs. The role entails executive oversight of personnel, budgeting, and interagency coordination to safeguard residents and property.

Ideal candidates hold a BA (Masters preferred) in management/public administration, with a minimum of ten years as a certified Firefighter/AEMT and at least five years in a Commander or higher position, plus GA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• BA degree (Masters preferred) in management or public administration.
• Meet all Marietta and Georgia Firefighter standards, certifications and requirements including Firefighter certification and AEMT and CPR.
• Instructing experience related to fire service topics.
• Ten years of progressively responsible Firefighter/AEMT experience with at least five years as Commander or higher.

Responsibilities

• Directs, plans, implements all Fire Department goals and objectives; ensures deployment of all resources.
• Directs and evaluates executive and management staff; oversees operations in fire suppression, rescue, training, information management and prevention.
• Manages budget, funding opportunities, and grant administration to support initiatives.
• Responds to large-scale fire and medical emergencies to direct scene operations.
• Maintains facilities and equipment; ensures policy development and staff development.
