Job summary

Health Resources in Action’s LEAH Project seeks an Executive Director to lead fundraising, strategy, and day-to-day leadership at a pivotal growth moment in Greater Boston. The ED will expand revenue, deepen partnerships, and enhance visibility while championing youth development and STEM equity.

The role combines strategic fundraising, program oversight, and external advocacy in a hybrid Boston-area setting.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or education.
• Proven success securing philanthropic investments from foundations, corporations, governments, and individuals.
• Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies that grew revenue and sustainability.
• Proven track record cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and leadership gifts.
• Experience building and managing corporate partnerships and sponsorships.
• At least 7–10 years of leadership, with staff and budget oversight and collaborative leadership.
• Strong understanding of youth development, STEM education, and workforce development.
• Interest in climate resilience, clean energy, and STEM innovation sectors.
• Experience budgeting, financial forecasting, and performance monitoring.
• Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and storytelling abilities.
• Experience serving as ambassador or spokesperson for an organization.
• Commitment to racial equity and embedding equity in leadership and decisions.
• Existing relationships in Greater Boston’s education, STEM, and philanthropic sectors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify and grow revenue beyond current streams.
• Build and manage a portfolio of major donors, corporate partners, foundations, and public funders.
• Oversee grant pursuits, cultivation, reporting, and compliance across multiple funders.
• Lead and expand a robust individual giving program, including annual giving and major gifts.
• Grow corporate partnerships and sponsorships, especially in life sciences and climate sectors.
• Identify new revenue opportunities to advance strategic priorities and long-term sustainability.
• Collaborate with HRiA leadership and Advisory Board to cultivate philanthropic support.
• Oversee donor communications, events, and external messaging; act as LEAH’s ambassador.
• Lead program team, ensure high-quality youth programming and outcomes.
• Strengthen strategic relationships with partners, schools, employers, and community groups.
