Job summary

University of Indianapolis seeks a Director of the Student Counseling Center to provide executive, clinical, and administrative leadership for the university’s student mental health services. This 12-month, in-person role oversees operations, budgeting, supervision, crisis response, and the practicum training program.

The director will advocate for student wellness, build partnerships across the university and community, and serve as the primary campus point-of-contact on student mental health.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Licensed as a Psychologist with Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP) endorsement in Indiana.
• Progressive leadership and supervisory experience in a university counseling center or multi-disciplinary clinical setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and emergency management.
• Experience providing clinical supervision to doctoral-level psychology trainees.
• Strong administrative, budgetary, and analytical skills; commitment to ethical standards and student well-being; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all clinical, administrative, financial, and day-to-day operations of the Student Counseling Center.
• Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies, clinical procedures, and budget allocation.
• Collect, analyze clinical utilization data, outcomes, and trends for reporting and planning.
• Oversee the design and dissemination of departmental marketing and outreach materials.
• Maintain awareness of APA guidelines and state licensing requirements.
• Provide direct supervision and mentorship for counseling center staff.
• Direct Practicum Training Program in partnership with the Clinical Psychology Doctoral program.
• Ensure high-quality supervision and didactics for doctoral trainees.
• Chair or participate in Training and Didactic program committees as needed.
• Deliver crisis intervention and manage campus response during acute events.
• Lead Campus Crisis Response Team and coordinate university-wide outreach during emergencies.
• Collaborate with Health Services, Residence Life, Campus Police, and administrators.
