Job summary

Critical Minded is seeking its first Executive Director to lead strategy, donor relations, and day-to-day operations for an 18‑month, fixed-term initiative. You will work with the Governance and Advisory Boards, manage staff and consultants, and guide grantmaking, research, and advocacy in racial justice in the arts and journalism spheres.

The role offers remote work anywhere in the US, a salary in the $110k–$125k range, and benefits through Allied Media Projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading strategy and fundraising for cultural or journalism-focused initiatives.
  • Senior leadership experience with board governance and donor relations.
  • Track record in grantmaking and program management.
  • Strong written and verbal communications across diverse audiences.
  • Experience with coordination of staff and consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Refine strategy with governance and advisory boards and set grantmaking priorities.
  • Build and manage relationships with investors and donors and report on funding.
  • Hire and manage program staff and consultants to advance grants and advocacy.
  • Oversee grantmaking processes, RFPs, reviews and reporting.
  • Stakeholder communications and program operations, budgeting, and tech platforms.
