Job summary

The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is searching to fill the position of Executive Director of the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines (IRIM). The Executive Director will lead IRIM’s vision, strategy, and community, advancing Georgia Tech’s position as a nationally and internationally recognized leader in robotics research and innovation.

The role requires a champion for robotics-related initiatives across campus, broad knowledge of local, state, national, and global

Qualifications

• Requires terminal degree in an IRIM-relevant field.
• External candidates may pursue tenured roles; interview will determine title and affiliation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate IRIM’s research agenda and organizational direction.
• Secure and support major research initiatives, partnerships, and funding opportunities.
• Coordinate strategic actions and fundraising to address emerging research opportunities and societal needs.
• Oversee staff and non-tenure-track research faculty, mentoring and developing the team.
• Manage IRIM’s budgetary and financial commitments and outcomes.
• Represent IRIM externally, building relationships with industry, government, and nonprofit partners.
• Promote transparency in decision-making, operations, and fiscal stewardship.
