Job summary

Worldwide Clinical Trials seeks an Executive Director, Project Management to lead the Project Management team within a therapeutic group. The role oversees project financial performance, strategic planning, and client relationships to ensure successful delivery across programs.

This senior leader will manage recruitment, training, and performance, while coordinating with senior management on business strategy and new opportunities. Travel may be required.

What the Executive Director, Project Management does at Worldwide

The Executive Director, Project Management (EDPM) is responsible for the overall management and direction of the Project Management team within a therapeutic group. This is a leadership role. The EDPM is responsible for the successful conduct of assigned projects, line management responsibility for the recruitment, training, development, and performance review of personnel, and, in cooperation with business and senior management, responsibility for the strategy and acquisition of new business. The EDPM is responsible for developing and maintaining effective client relationships, Alliance Partnership responsibilities, Sub‑Therapeutic Area Head responsibilities, and serves as the Vice President, Project Management (VPPM) deputy within the therapeutic group.

What you will do
  • Oversee and be responsible for overall project financial performance across all departments, including ongoing assessment of financial progress for all assigned projects
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and adherence to project plans and performance indicators
  • Conduct budget reviews and provide financial analysis support as needed
  • Review and approve the strategy, content, and costing of new business proposals
  • Identify resource needs for new projects
  • Meet resource management and utilization targets for assigned staff
  • Serve as the Worldwide Clinical Trials-appointed primary contact where Worldwide Clinical Trials has an Alliance Partnership with sponsor(s)
  • Lead sub‑therapeutic groups, as appointed by management, and be responsible for the overall management and direction of the Project Management Team within the sub‑therapeutic group
  • Develop and maintain connections and effective working relationships with sponsors
  • Conduct regular project and sponsor relationship reviews to ensure projects are delivered according to appropriate procedures, timelines, budgets, and sponsor satisfaction
  • Facilitate the resolution of any issues arising from sponsor relationships
  • Provide capabilities presentations and attend bid presentations
  • Ensure project deliverables meet sponsor and Worldwide Clinical Trials expectations on all assigned projects
  • Participate in company initiatives as directed by the VPPM
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management (repeat)

Your experience

University or college degree (life science preferred), certification in a related allied health profession from an appropriately accredited institution (e.g., nursing certification, medical technology, or laboratory technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of global clinical pharmaceutical industry experience, including eight (8) years of demonstrated skills and competency in clinical project management tasks and staff management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and line manage staff in a global environment
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire effective teamwork and motivate personnel within a matrix system
  • Experience managing global drug development programs
  • Proven ability to negotiate with clients in a professional manner
  • Availability for domestic and international travel, including overnight stays
  • Valid passport
  • Ability to drive and possess a valid driver’s license
  • Fluency in the local office language and English, both written and verbal
  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process and client needs

Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.

At Worldwide Clinical Trials, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace by providing transparent compensation. The salary range for this position is annually (For hourly paid positions, the stated salary range reflects hourly rates): United States of America - $185,500.00 - $367,500.00

The salary range provided is intended to give candidates an understanding of potential earnings. Compensation will fall within the provided range, and it not a guarantee of exact salary. The final salary will be determined based on relevant experience, performance, education, and internal equity.

In addition to base salary, we offer a competitive benefits package depending on location. We ensure pay equity and transparency and comply with all applicable labor laws.
