Job summary

MP RPO in the Greater Boston Area is seeking an experienced Director of Preconstruction & Estimating to lead our estimating and preconstruction functions. This executive role partners with leadership to develop pursuit strategies, mentor a talented team, and drive successful project turnover from opportunity through Operations.

You will oversee conceptual budgets, pricing strategies, and risk assessments while collaborating with Operations and clients to shape winning outcomes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive commercial construction estimating and preconstruction experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing estimating, preconstruction, or related teams.
• Significant experience with commercial general contractors or construction managers.
• Proven success leading complex project pursuits from concept to award.
• Extensive experience with conceptual estimating, negotiated work, GMP development, budgeting, and preconstruction services.
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, procurement, logistics, subcontractor markets, and project delivery.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Estimating and Preconstruction teams, promoting accountability and development.
• Oversee estimating activities from opportunity evaluation through final proposal submission and award.
• Develop pursuit strategies for negotiated and competitive projects; review and approve budgets and bids.
• Evaluate project risks, logistics, procurement strategies, and scheduling.
• Lead constructability reviews, value engineering, and procurement planning in collaboration with Operations.
• Participate in client meetings and provide executive-level leadership during preconstruction.
• Build relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
• Drive continuous improvement of estimating processes, technology, reporting, and best practices.
