Job summary

City of Brookings seeks a Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Director to provide strategic leadership for parks, recreation facilities, the golf course, urban forestry, community enrichment, and senior services. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management, public administration, business administration, leisure services, natural resources, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in parks, recreation, facilities, or related operations, including supervisory work.
• Experience managing complex operations, budgets, personnel, programs, facilities, and capital projects.
• Ability to use financial information, data, and performance measures to guide decisions.
• Proven ability to lead a diverse workforce and navigate sensitive, political matters with sound judgment.
• Proficiency with technology and software used for communication, reporting, budgeting, data analysis, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for parks, recreation, facilities, golf, urban forestry, and senior services.
• Lead departmental planning, personnel, financial management, capital improvements, partnerships, and operations.
• Collaborate with City leadership, advisory boards, and the public to anticipate needs and enhance quality of life.
• Establish departmental goals and long-range plans aligned with City priorities.
• Oversee budgets, capital projects, contracts, grants, and resources.
