The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for Camp Stein, with responsibility for strategic growth, financial sustainability, organizational excellence, fundraising and donor and community relations, and excellence of the camp experience. The successful candidate will understand that the strength of Camp Stein is ultimately found in its people: campers who feel known and welcomed, staff who are inspired to give their best, families who trust the community with their children, alumni who remain connected, and a Jewish community that sees camp as an essential part of its future.
The Executive Director will:
The Executive Director will provide the vision, leadership, and follow-through necessary to build a strong and sustainable future for Camp Stein.
Develop and articulate a strategic vision for the camp's growth and sustainability.
Establish measurable goals and accountability structures; regularly assess enrollment, financial performance, profitability, and opportunities for growth.
Translate strategic priorities into coordinated action across recruitment, fundraising, marketing, programming, and business development.
Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration while maintaining and respecting history and tradition.
Growing the Camp Stein community will be a central priority of the Executive Director.
Be an expert at ‘telling the story’ of Camp Stein. Share the vision and tradition of camp with prospective participants in new communities and geographic markets identified across the southwest.
Develop and implement a comprehensive and data-informed recruitment strategy and establish enrollment goals and measurable benchmarks.
Develop strategies to attract new campers, convert prospective families, and improve camper retention.
Build relationships with families throughout their journey from first contact through their camper's years at Stein.
The Executive Director will strengthen the camp's financial sustainability and philanthropic support.
Develop and manage the annual operating budget with senior leadership and the Budget & Finance Committee. Monitor performance, analyze variances, provide financial reporting, and recommend adjustments to support fiscal responsibility and strategic priorities.
Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to strengthen the camp's philanthropic support.
Build authentic, lasting relationships with donors, prospective donors, alumni families, and community partners.
Identify new revenue opportunities and partnerships to support camp’s future.
Articulate the impact of Camp Stein in ways that inspire people to invest in our mission.
Camp Stein serves as a home for Jewish young people from across the Southwest. The Executive Director will be a visible and enthusiastic ambassador for that community.
Manage and strengthen relationships with organizations such as the Foundation for Jewish Camp, JCamp 180, Association of Independent Jewish Camps, PJ Library, and other relevant partners.
Serve as a primary liaison to local synagogues, Jewish communal organizations, clergy, educators, and youth-serving organizations.
Cultivate partnerships that support camper recruitment, programming, fundraising, and organizational growth.
Represent Camp Stein with warmth, enthusiasm, professionalism, and a deep belief in the identity-building experience of Jewish camp.
