Job summary

Harvard University’s Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Office of Development and Alumni Relations is seeking a Managing Director of Development to lead a fundraising team focused on principal gifts ($5M+), major gifts ($250K+), and corporate/foundation relations.

The role partners with campus leadership to shape strategies and annual/long-term goals. Reporting to the Vice Dean, the MDD directs fundraising plans, collaborates across offices, and uses moves management and Advance reporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • 10+ years fundraising and fundraising management experience.
  • 7+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with annual, reunion, major, planned, and principal gifts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and donor stewardship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor fundraising team to achieve priorities.
  • Develop and maintain a multi-year development plan aligned with School priorities.
  • Provide regular progress updates to Vice Dean and stakeholders.
  • Manage a small portfolio of key prospects and back-up for select prospects.
  • Collaborate to expand prospect base and drives moves management.
  • Partner with leadership to develop case for support, communications, events, and proposals.
  • Foster cross-office collaboration across Harvard Chan and university partners.
  • Lead development plans and evaluate annual and multi-year fundraising goals.
  • Advance fundraising culture with systems and reporting using Advance.
