Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Science seeks an Executive Director for the Penn Center for Language and Vision to lead strategic AI research initiatives, coordinate cross‑disciplinary work, and promote the center's visibility with industry partners.

Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Executive Director will help develop new NLP/ML and multi‑modal programs, assist in grant proposals, and oversee outreach, publications, and grant activities.

Qualifications

• PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree and 5-7 years of related experience.
• Strong background in NLP/ML and multi-modal models for learning
• Experience with evaluation methodologies and grant writing

Responsibilities

• Recruit, organize, and assist faculty teams and industry collaborators in writing grants and partnerships.
• Conduct research and work on scientific publications.
• Prepare presentations and reports and provide other grant activities support for the center.
• Organize workshops, seminars, industry outreach, and other center activities.
