Ohlone College's Executive Director of Information Technology Services leads districtwide technology planning and operations, shaping vision for security, infrastructure, and user support across the college. Reporting to the Vice President of Administrative Services, the incumbent governs
The ideal candidate is a seasoned information technology executive with at least five years of progressively responsible experience leading an information technology department, and a current Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) demonstrating deep expertise in cybersecurity, infrastructure, and regulatory compliance. They combine strategic, big-picture thinking with hands‑on operational skill, equally comfortable setting districtwide technology vision, managing budgets and vendor contracts, and directing the day‑to‑day security, network, and systems work that keeps a college running. This person mentors and develops technical staff, builds trust across administrators, staff, faculty and governance committees, and communicates complex technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Above all, they bring a genuine, equity‑minded commitment to serving a culturally diverse community college population, along with the adaptability and independent judgment needed to navigate evolving technology, risk, and public policy landscapes.
Under the direction of the Vice President, Administrative Services, the Executive Director of Information Technology Services provides districtwide leadership and technology planning. The incumbent manages a highly skilled workforce including technical and management level staff in a culturally diverse environment and works collaboratively to support faculty innovation in academic learning environments. The Executive Director of Information Technology Services plans, organizes, controls, and directs the technology operations for the college. The incumbent provides technical recommendations regarding hardware and software for the district for both instructional and administrative use. In addition, the incumbent provides executive oversight for the college’s information security program, leads the strategic design, implementation and enforcement of policies to protect critical data, mitigate cyber risk and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Any combination equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in the administration of an information technology department; AND A valid information security certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) required; AND Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity‑minded practices.
Management Salary Schedule Range 232. Initial salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources. Management employees typically advance one step on the salary schedule each year and have the potential to reach the current maximum step of $223,920.00 annually.
Transcripts issued outside the United States require a course‑by‑course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA.
