Job summary

IREX seeks an Executive Project Director to provide senior U.S.-based strategic, technical, operational, and compliance leadership for an 18-month donor-funded program supporting the free flow of information.

The Executive Project Director will oversee donor liaison, program quality, planning, partner engagement, subgrant oversight, and financial management with a focus on risk-informed implementation and learning across multiple countries.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean; knowledge of media freedom and digital safety is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; ability to produce donor-facing analysis and reports.
• Proven ability to manage donor-funded programs, risk, and subgrants with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Provide program leadership, planning, and day-to-day coordination across staff and experts.
• Engage with donors, partners, and other stakeholders; produce concise briefings and technical reports.
• Oversee budget, compliance, subgrant oversight, and risk-sensitive support for local partners.
• Lead a diverse, dispersed team; mentor staff and ensure security-conscious operations.
• Contribute to proposal strategy and opportunity development for future funding.
