Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in the United States is seeking a Senior Safety Sciences leader to oversee risk responsibilities across therapeutic areas and drive standardized safety operations.

You will define strategy, oversee training, and build a scalable team while ensuring compliance for periodic safety reports and signal management. Requires MD/PhD and 17+ years PV experience. Location: Warren, NJ with onsite work 4 days/week; travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • MD/PA/PhD/PharmD; board certification or equivalent (MBA a plus).
  • 17+ years PV or relevant pharma clinical experience.
  • 6+ years leading teams/people management.
  • Oversight experience in a global patient safety organization (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to assess/optimize safety operations processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational planning, and multi-project management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as key point of contact for Safety Sciences operations and risk responsibilities across all Therapeutic Areas.
  • Drive portfolio consistency for core Safety Scientist activities (data transformation, safety surveillance, SMT preparation, aggregate report drafts, signal evaluations).
  • Define strategy and develop templates to standardize execution.
  • Oversee GPS Safety Sciences training (standardized curriculum, proficiency matrix, knowledge management repository).
  • Enable Global Capability Center (GCC) to scale and operate efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance and quality management; establish SOPs and monitoring tools.
  • Oversee signal detection coordination and signal management across TAs.
  • Coordinate compliant, timely benefit-risk assessment for periodic safety reports and contribute to ARM/RMP/SMP as required.
  • Set framework for aggregate safety data analysis.
  • Build, coach, and scale the team; lead succession planning and talent pipelines.

  • Define strategy and develop common practices, processes, and templates to standardize and ensure consistent execution.
  • Oversee GPS Safety Sciences training (standardized curriculum, proficiency matrix, knowledge management repository).
  • Enable Global Capability Center (GCC) to scale and operate efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance and quality management; establish SOPs and monitoring tools.
  • Oversee signal detection coordination and signal management (SMT, SSP, SER) across TAs.
  • Coordinate compliant, timely benefit-risk assessment for periodic safety reports (e.g., DSURs, PSURs) and contribute Medical/Safety perspective to ARM/RMP/SMP as required.
  • Set framework for aggregate safety data analysis.
  • Build, coach, and scale the team; lead succession planning and talent pipelines.
Required/Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
  • MD/PA/PhD/PharmD; board certification or equivalent (MBA a plus).
  • 17+ years PV or relevant pharma clinical experience.
  • 6+ years leading teams/people management.
  • Preferred: oversight experience in a global patient safety organization.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to assess/optimize safety operations processes and ensure compliant execution.
