Job summary

Morgan Stanley Investment Management is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to join the AIP Hedge Fund team. You will support macro hedge fund portfolios, work with PMs and CRO, and help build risk infrastructure. Strong quantitative skills and practical market experience are essential.

The role emphasizes independent analysis, portfolio optimization, and proactive risk communication. Base responsibilities include risk modeling, stress testing, and collaboration with trading and business development

Qualifications

Seven years in risk management, portfolio construction, or trading.
Experience influencing investment decisions for portfolios.
Strong understanding of capital markets and risk decomposition.
Ability to translate quantitative work into practical investment actions.
Excellent communication with portfolio managers and senior staff.

Responsibilities

Identify and manage portfolio risks: VaR, market/factor, Greek, liquidity, concentration.
Advise PMs on sizing, hedging, diversification, and risk controls to improve returns.
Analyze portfolio behavior across market regimes and stress tests.
Evaluate alpha sources and attribution across asset classes and positions.
Collaborate on platform-level risk allocation and constraints.
Develop analytics tools, models, and automation for portfolio work.
Communicate risks and implications to PMs and leadership.
