Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, was formed to develop and offer a next-generation streaming platform for the entire entertainment industry. The company consists of three primary lines of business: Xumo devices, Xumo Play, and Xumo Enterprise. Powered by Comcast’s global entertainment platform, Xumo devices feature a world-class user interface with universal voice search capabilities, making it easy for consumers to find and enjoy their favorite streaming content. Xumo Play is a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service offering hundreds of linear channels and on-demand options. Xumo Enterprise provides tools and services for content creators, distributors, and advertisers to make FAST content more accessible.

Job Summary

The role is instrumental in driving measurable growth across Xumo FAST (Play and Enterprise) businesses by setting platform engineering strategy, overseeing fiscal and operational performance, developing leaders, advancing scalable monetization, personalization, security, privacy, accessibility, and governance capabilities while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture.

  • Deep experience leading engineering organizations responsible for video, advertising technology, and data platforms at scale.
  • Proven success building and evolving cloud-based platform architectures that support high-volume consumer & enterprise products.
  • Experience scaling platforms from early-stage development through significant user growth.
  • Strong understanding of video streaming ecosystems, advertising technology, audience data, and platform monetization capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity & drive results in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Track record of managing & developing engineering leaders and established teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively across product, data, operations, and business organizations.
Responsibilities
  • Orchestrating engineering strategies aligned with Xumo FAST platform architecture across Video, Ad Tech, Data, Content Management System, and Backend domains, while fostering an environment that embraces continuous improvement and change.
  • Driving business objectives by implementing strategies that ensure operational excellence, accountability, and measurable impact on monetization, user engagement, and platform efficiency across the engineering organization.
  • Defining and overseeing execution of cross-functional, platform-level initiatives, ensuring alignment between Engineering, Product, and business priorities, and supporting delivery of large-scale, high-impact programs.
  • Directing data-driven analysis of operational and business metrics, monitoring project timelines, platform performance, and expenditures to ensure alignment with ROI and strategic priorities.
  • Managing comprehensive budget oversight, including forecasting for platform operations, development, and large-scale engineering initiatives supporting both Xumo Play and Enterprise businesses.
  • Leading platform development initiatives, including monetization capabilities such as advertising systems, data-driven personalization, and revenue-enabling technologies, translating these into scalable and maintainable platform solutions.
  • Benchmarking and optimizing work processes to meet company and industry performance standards, including improvements in system scalability, reliability, cost efficiency, and operational excellence across platform engineering.
  • Monitoring competitors, industry developments, and technological advances across streaming media, AVOD, and FAST markets to identify strategic opportunities, anticipate risks, and inform platform direction.
  • Championing professional development by mentoring engineering leaders and building a strong leadership bench across Directors, Senior Managers, and Principal Engineers, enabling organizational scalability.
  • Inspiring team commitment, building shared vision, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture across onshore and offshore teams.
  • Leading data security, privacy, accessibility, and governance across platform systems by applying industry best practices, supporting global privacy compliance frameworks, maintaining audit readiness, and coordinating cross-functional execution.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Compensation Pay Range

This job can be performed in California with a good faith estimated pay range upon hire of $235,942.23 - $314,589.64 USD. Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within the posted range for this role at the time of posting dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.

The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
