Job summary

Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation seeks a Year Round Engineering and Facilities Leader to oversee operations, maintenance, utilities, planning, and asset management for lodges and base areas. You will drive best practices, safety, and long-term asset life while guiding self-performed construction and capital projects.

Responsibilities include budget oversight, compliance, and cross-functional leadership across engineering, trades, and environmental operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, maintenance, and facility management within the hospitality or tourism industry.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, construction practices, and building codes.
• Experience in collaborating with stakeholders to create hiring strategies to develop quality teams.
• Knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management.
• Proficient in capital planning, project management, budgeting, and cost control.
• Ability to implement long-term strategies to meet carbon emissions reduction and renewable energy goals.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems for best equipment performance and tracking energy consumption.
• Familiarity with ski resort operations, large building footprints, lodging properties, mountain infrastructure and climate.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities; meticulous and effective in collaboration.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, external partners, and regulatory authorities.
• Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with guests and staff and management.
• Recruiting strategy development to close skill gaps for future needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to engineering and facilities teams, aligning plans with resort objectives.
• Oversee maintenance, repair, and operations of all resort facilities and infrastructure.
• Lead capital planning and lifecycle management for infrastructure projects.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and manage the department budget, including CAPEX and OPEX.
• Foster partnerships with vendors, contractors, and external service providers.
• Drive sustainability initiatives to reduce energy use and environmental impact.
• Create emergency response plans and coordinate with relevant teams.
