Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking an Exec. Director, Data Management for a hybrid role with roughly three days per week in the office. The position can be based in Princeton, NJ, San Diego, CA, or San Francisco, CA.

You will lead a global Data Management function, set strategy, govern vendors, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive data quality for clinical trials and submissions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/biological/statistical/computer science field.
• About 15 years pharma/biotech experience.
• Approximately 10 years in direct report or vendor management.
• Strong FDA/ICH regulatory knowledge and data integrity.
• Experience with vendor evaluation and governance; in-house and outsourced models.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Data Management across the clinical portfolio.
• Lead the DM function—design, budgeting, hiring, and performance management.
• Evolve a scalable DM operating model with internal and outsourced partnerships.
• Oversee vendor selection, governance, contracts, and performance.
• Develop DM standards, processes, SOPs, and inspection readiness.
• Ensure timely delivery of high‑quality databases/datasets for analysis and submissions.
• Oversee DM systems and data standards across projects.
• Identify risks and drive process improvements for efficiency and continuity.
• Act as DM SME during audits and cross‑functional governance.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of Data Management across the clinical development portfolio.
• Lead and develop the Data Management function (organizational design, resource planning, budgeting, hiring, performance management).
• Establish and evolve a scalable Data Management operating model (internal + outsourced vendor/FSP partnerships).
• Oversee vendor selection, governance, contract management, and performance.
• Develop and implement Data Management standards, processes, SOPs, and inspection-readiness practices.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality clinical databases/datasets for analysis, regulatory submissions, and health authority inspections.
• Provide strategic oversight of clinical data management systems/technologies/data standards.
• Identify operational risks and lead process improvement for efficiency, quality, and business continuity.
• Serve as Data Management SME during audits/inspections and cross-functional governance.

Education/Experience/Skills

• Bachelor’s degree (scientific/biological/statistical/computer science or related); advanced degree strongly preferred.
• ~15 years pharma/biotech experience; ~10 years direct report or vendor management.
• Experience managing multiple teams/programs and resource planning for DM functions, workforce, infrastructure, and study deliverables.
• Strong clinical trials/regulatory compliance knowledge (FDA/ICH) and data integrity.
• Vendor evaluation/selection/governance/management; experience with in-house and outsourced operating models.
• Ability to manage timelines and unexpected events; strong cross-level communication.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Compensation/Benefits

• Salary range: $252,000–$314,700 USD; eligible for discretionary bonus and equity.
