Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield, CT seeks an Executive Director, Computational Biology – Cardio-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) Diseases to lead strategy and execution of computational biology initiatives across kidney and CRM programs.

You will guide integration of genetics, multi-omics, AI-enabled methods, and translational data to identify opportunities and inform project decisions from target discovery through proof of concept.

Qualifications

• PhD with 12+ years postdoctoral/drug discovery experience in Computational Biology or a related quantitative discipline.
• 5+ years of strategic leadership, global team management, and cross-functional influence.
• Experience managing budgets, outsourcing, and cross-site operations.
• Proven track-record of scientific and pharmaceutical accomplishments, preferably in Kidney or related CRM indications.
• Demonstrated expertise in computationally driven target and/or biomarker identification.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration and mentoring junior scientists.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead computational biology strategies for kidney research aligned with CRM strategy.
• Serve as strategic partner translating computational evidence into recommendations for program decisions.
• Provide leadership from target discovery through clinical proof of concept with timely, rigorous analyses.
• Contribute to disease-area and asset strategies across Kidney and CRM portfolio.
• Prioritize activities with clear deliverables and impact metrics.
• Lead and develop a team of computational biologists and foster a culture of innovation.
• Support capability planning, recruitment, and development.
• Translate strategy to scientists and create opportunities for professional growth.
• Promote collaboration across sites, functions, programs, and disease areas.
