Executive Summary

The Colorado Disability Funding Authority (the Authority) was established through state legislation to serve as Colorado's statewide disability funding organization. Building upon prior grantmaking efforts, the Authority is designed as an independent public authority responsible for investing in programs and services that improve quality of life and expand opportunities for people with disabilities across Colorado.

The Authority seeks mission-driven executive who combines entrepreneurial leadership with strong operational discipline to serve as its Executive Director. This opportunity is unlike most executive leadership roles. Rather than inheriting a mature organization, the Executive Director will build an institution from the ground up. Stakeholders describe the position as a rare chance to establish organizational culture, operating systems, grantmaking practices, staffing structures, and statewide credibility from the outset.

The successful candidate will guide the Authority through its formative years, balancing innovation with accountability while developing a trusted resource for Colorado's disability community. With dedicated funding available, the Executive Director can focus attention on mission impact, effective grantmaking, organizational excellence, and relationship building with limited focus on unique fundraising responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be energized by creating and leading new initiatives, is comfortable operating within a public accountability framework, and is committed to improving opportunities for people with disabilities. Stakeholder interviews highlighted the importance of a leader who can build consensus, communicate clearly, listen deeply, and engage and navigate diverse perspectives while maintaining focus on the Authority's long-term objectives.

The Colorado Disability Funding Authority offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $195,000-$245,000, commensurate with experience.
