Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a Managing Director to lead the Waisman Biomanufacturing (WB) unit. You will provide scientific/technical leadership for research, manufacturing, and training programs, oversee staffing, equipment needs, validation, and funding opportunities, and manage internal and external relationships.

The role requires strong management experience, budget responsibility, and expertise in cGMP manufacturing for early clinical trials.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with 4+ years in clinical biomedical manufacturing and development (gene/cell therapy or related)
• 2+ years of relevant management experience including budgetary responsibility and staff leadership

Responsibilities

• Serve on WB project teams as a SME in science quality and regulatory affairs for biopharmaceuticals in early phase trials
• Develops and audits research program budgets
• Exercises supervisory authority over 2.0 FTE employees
• Directs and evaluates strategic planning to ensure optimal use of financial, administrative, and staffing resources
• Develops, implements, and evaluates operating policies to comply with regulations and policies
• Serves as unit liaison and spokesperson to internal/external stakeholders
