Job description

For the first time in 14 years, the Elkhorn Public Schools Foundation is searching for its next Executive Director. Roles like this rarely come open: a financially strong, well-run foundation with an exceptional team, a proven culture, and the resources already in place to shape the Elkhorn community for decades to come.

With a 2027 retirement approaching, EPSF is seeking a new leader for its next chapter. We are searching for a visionary, visible, and well-connected champion who will grow philanthropic support, deepen donor and community partnerships, and build on a strong foundation to create even greater impact for Elkhorn students and families.

The Opportunity
  • Expand the Foundation's reach. Broaden the Foundation's base of support by proactively identifying the community's philanthropic leaders and cultivating meaningful relationships with new donors and partners who share a passion for Elkhorn students and families.
  • Be the Foundation's face in the community. Serve as the Foundation's energetic, enthusiastic ambassador and primary spokesperson, representing EPSF at its many signature events throughout the community. Frequent public speaking is central to this role, so the ideal candidate is a confident, compelling communicator who can inspire audiences of every size.
  • Set the long-term vision. Partner closely with Elkhorn Public Schools administrators to align the Foundation's strategy with the district's priorities and chart a long-term vision for lasting impact.
  • Lead an outstanding team. Draw on the expertise of an excellent staff spanning finance, human resources, marketing, event planning, and Elkhorn Kids Campus operations, and empower them to take the organization to the next level.
  • Roll up your sleeves. Join a team of servant leaders who pitch in with humility and generosity and do the work alongside them.
  • Start with a thoughtful transition. Work alongside our respected Executive Director prior to her retirement to learn the organization and get to know the team and current donors.
Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an accomplished leader who pairs a strong business mindset with a passion for education and a heart for community. This could be an excellent opportunity for a seasoned for-profit senior leader ready to channel their talents into more meaningful, community-focused work, or an experienced foundation or nonprofit executive who is passionate about education. For the right leader, EPSF offers something rare: a stable organization with a bright future, a supportive board committed to the Executive Director's success, and a place to build a lasting legacy over the rest of their career.
