Job summary

Stonewall Community Foundation (SCF) seeks an innovative and strategic leader to guide the organization into its next chapter of impact. Reporting to the Board, the Executive Director will steward strategic, operational, and financial management, collaborating with staff, Board, and partners to maximize SCF’s reach in the LGBTQ+ community across the region.

Job description

Stonewall is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to usher this beloved foundation into its next chapter of impact. Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Director (ED) will lead overall strategic, operational, and financial management of SCF. Working collaboratively with the Board, staff, and community partners, the ED will lead SCF in realizing its full potential and vision, refining its approach to maximizing impact across the region. The ED will lead a strong and passionate staff in fulfilling SCF’s goal of being the leading funder for the LGBTQ+ community in the region.

Key responsibilities include
  • Lead all aspects of SCF, including operations, partnerships, fundraising, and financial oversight of an approximately $1.3 million annual operating budget and oversight of a full-time staff of six employees.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with the staff, Board, partners, and other constituents to refine short and long-term goals, implement a strategy, and evaluate success.
  • In partnership with Board and staff, ensure SCF’s grantmaking reflects the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Elevate the funder and grantee experience, ensuring SCF consistently delivers an excellent experience to all its partners.
  • Ensure SCF’s organizational structure, systems, and business practices adapt to a rapidly changing field, expanding the foundation’s reach while also contributing to financial sustainability.
  • Embody SCF’s values and serve as its primary spokesperson, fundraiser, and advocate in the community.
  • Cultivate new partnerships and sources of funding by creatively and strategically expanding and deepening fundraising opportunities with individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Promote, both internally and externally, a shared commitment towards embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in SCF’s day-to-day running as well as the delivery of its mission.
  • Ensure the Board is achieving its primary responsibilities of excellence in governance.
